Starting your own Comic Book Event

by Jonas Diego

We’ve done a few.

Together with friends, partners, and supporters we’ve managed to do a few comic book event such as the KomiksTrip, the 24-hour Comic Book Challenge, and the San Pablo Comics Festival (not to mention an upcoming comic book making body painting contest). We’re also helping out the organizers for the Cebu Comics Convention and the Philippine International Cartoons, Comics, and Animation (PICCA) Festival.

Suffice to say, we’ve been around and we got the bumps and bruises to show for it because, let me tell you: organizing a comic book event is not easy. During the bumpy ride however I’ve figured out quite a few things that work for me through the magic of trial and error (mostly errors) and I’d like to share them with you in the hopes that you’ll also start your own comic book event.
